The Lottery
The world is going to end. A meteor the size of Sydney is about to Hit earth at the speed of light. To save the population of earth the world’s governments have decided to send a indigenous male and female from each country to go into space and colonise the stars. But what happens when Zerachiah, early twenties, and other indigenous people do when they find out the planet they are going to make a second home is rife with life and a human like life form. Does that change his decision to go? Who are we when country is destroyed? Who are we when country is left behind?
Waverley Stanley Jr
Waverley Stanley Jnr is a Gumbaynggirr, Kabi Kabi, Birri Gubba, Kanju man living in Magandjin (Brisbane), Queensland. His career began performing onstage in poetry competitions. His screen credits include the TV show Cleverman and Harrow. Waverley graduated from QUT with a degree in Creative Writing in 2023. In 2019 he was a part of Playlab and QPAC’s emerging writers’ program, Sparks. In 2020 he was part of the La Boite Theatre Company, Assembly program. In 2024 he was apart of Ignition, a QPAC and Playlab program that sees indigenous writers prepare a full draft of a script to be read. Waverley has written his first full length theatrical script, 21st Century Psychotic, based on events from his own life.
