Seventh Season Dreaming

Dance / Movement

Seventh Season Dreaming is the journey of a young man who is adrift, numb, spiritually delirious, and dispossessed - like someone crushed to the sea-bed by the force of huge waves, trapped by the current in a hole he can’t get out of. Bin Saad will explore concepts of timelessness, dreamlessness, joy, and love, to connect the spirits of many through the spirit of one.

Sermsah’s Story

Nyikina man, Sermsah Bin Saad’s name in the Indigenous community is synonymous with dance, choreography, opera, theatre, the festival and events, television and film. He is known for cracking into the tough Top 14 on 2008’s “So You Think You Can Dance”, Australia and also lead the dancers in the movie “Bran Nue Dae”. Sermsah also anchors his very own radio show titled Urban Dreaming which was Awarded Excellence in Diversity 2018 creating a broader education of understanding protocol in the country using the medium of the Arts as an educational tool to develop sustainable outcomes.

Currently he works with Nikki Visaj Enterprises teaching cultural dance and facilitates workshops within the schools, educational departments and organisations teaching protocol of country and sustainable living. Above all Sermsah values his heritage and cultural roots. He is a proud Nyikina man from the Kimberleys WA.

He believes in ‘Liyan’ a saying springing from his Salt and Freshwater country of Derby/Broome meaning ‘Coming together of the spirit, connection to country and listening to your instinctual knowledge’. An award-winning artist who aims to educate society on the history of atrocities that impacts our people since colonisation and the forced assimilation of the Western construct in order for people to understand why we fight to this day for our basic human rights and Sovereignty of this Land.
